Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal statement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of forbidden practices and terrifying changes echo through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange tests and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Transformations
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Bonus Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana in addition to multiple items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
