Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
